Goce Stevkovski's skill as a band leader might not be as well-known as his tenure with high profile groups like the Bodan Arsovski Ezgija band, Arhangel, Leb i Sol, Project Zlust, DNO or various small-group jazz projects. With his latest project, Goce Stevkovski Septet, however, the drummer has managed an impressive feat by enticing some young horn gunslingers in the front line working shoulder by shoulder with seasoned jazz veterans. The band’s debut “7 Stories” is a rare accomplishment: a post-hard bop album with strong and memorably melodies, striking perfect balance between flash and subtlety. Considered as one of the leading contemporary Macedonian musicians, Dzijan Emin has also gained quite a reputation all over the world. From being the principal french horn with the Macedonian Philharmonic, to skillfuly playing improvised music or jazz, from conducting international orchestras to composing and arranging scores for movie and theater, Dzijan shines all the way through, always adding an original voice and incomparable musicality. His collaborators include world renowned musicians such as A.R. Rahman, Frank London, William Parker, Bob Stewart, Luca Aquino, Gianluca Petrella, Malcolm Burn, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Jeff Mils. As a conductor has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra L’amoureux, Flanders Symphony Orchestra… Goce Stevkovski and Dzijan Emin are long time friends and have been playing together in different projects for more than two decades.
