Mopo, a trio of sax, bass and drums from Finland, has been on the radar of international tastemakers already for a while thanks to their unique blend of punk, jazz and inspiration from the Finnish nature. Mopo (a moped) accelerates easily from zero to speed of light, but mostly the trio steps on a gas pedal for a ruffride in the countryside. The energetic band saw daylight in the fall of 2009. The basic trio format allows the three inventive improvisers to explore an endless number of sonic sceneries, quickly moving from sweet and dancing melodies to the most ferocious screams. Captivating and fresh! Compositions are built together relying strongly in the magic of the moment. Mopo has released four albums, “Jee!”(2012), “Beibe”(2014), “Laivalla”(2016) and “Mopocalypse”(2017). “Beibe” won the Finnish grammy in best jazz album category. Linda Fredriksson has made it already three times to Downbeat’s Rising Star list and All about Jazz has listed Mopo in their list of “15 European Jazz Musicians You Need To Know About”. Mopo’s intense performances have stolen the hearts of their audiences all over the world. In recent years Mopo has toured Mexico, UK, Sweden, Slovenia, Morocco, Norway and Turkey.
