Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is one of the most important and creative jazz ensembles in Europe. An important feature with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is the band's flexible and varying size crew. The orchestra works on a project basis and is operated as a musicians’ pool, so that the orchestra changes the instrumentation and size from project to project. During the course of the last seventeen years, the orchestra had great number of exciting projects with Norwegian and international jazz musicians such as Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Joshua Redman, Erlend Skomsvoll, Eirik Hegdal, Sofia Jernberg, Jenny Hval and Stian Westerhus. The musicians that have been involved in the orchestra are among Norway's most famous jazz profiles. Ole Morten Vågan is one of Norway's most wanted bass players and composers. Running his own quintet Motif since 1998, he has performed his own music all over the world. In May 2014, he premiered his new work as artistic director of Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. In April 2016, the project was picked out to showcase at Jazzahead in Bremen, and in 2017 Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Ole Morten Vågan are touring throughout Europe.
